since you are not a musician, that is why you don't understand it. you're just a simple listener. that is why when you view a moment like this of a gathering of these great musicians, you cannot understand why they are more than one in a single instrument. just stick to your listening and don't mind the players. they don't matter with your knowledge anyway.

@Arquilian121799 wow how arrogant. its the blues its simple i mean c;mon the allmans used those drums it wasnt just for show.

rock and roll is dead due to this sad nostalgic loss, but get over it everyone should play what they want to hear. and yes i am a musician, and i dont believe in having 2 drums if you cant hear the guitarists even (cough derek).

this is pitiful that all thats left of this era is doubt and fear when it was all love. its depressing and redundant now.

A lot of bands use this technique to vary the feel of the beat. The two drummers can play off of each other with complimentary rythms and beats. Sort of the same way there might be two vocalists (one in harmony with the other...)

i know that but here its not necesary. george harrison used it great, and the allmans did it the best, but this is a dead blues beat.

amazing how everyone lost their voice except van morrison, or atleast the passion. clapton aint too shabby tho. rip duane.
